Overview
This BAJET 3D billboard astronaut prototype was created for the ELECOMP exhibition to test a playful, shareable out-of-screen illusion on a corner LED wall. The aim was to turn a simple scene into a crowd-stopping moment that invites photos and loops cleanly for all-day playback.
Concept & Narrative
A cute astronaut floats toward a suspended BAJET smartphone. As the character reaches for it, the illusion peaks—the device feels just beyond the frame. Then the tether tightens and snaps the astronaut back toward the ship. This quick surprise adds humor and makes the depth trick easy to read from typical viewing angles.
Production & Pipeline
I directed and produced the loop end-to-end. Blender handled scene scale, animation, and lens calibration to match the corner LED geometry. After Effects covered compositing and display-oriented grading so highlights and contrast read well under event lighting. The deliverables included a master movie, a poster frame, and social-ready cuts for easy sharing.
Outcome
Although this astronaut version later evolved into BAJET’s official mascot loop, it proved the perspective-based 3D illusion and established a repeatable pipeline for real-world LED installations. As a result, the team could pivot fast while keeping the optical effect consistent across booth layouts and social teasers.
